What We Do

Mission and Vision

LAC believes that the Chinese workers are the main agency of change in monitoring the labour regulation on the shop floor. They should be the agency to attain true representation of labour interests within existing legal ands trade union framework through active and democratic participation. Through consciousness raising and grass-root participation for legal defense of their rights, their collective voices and actions would be one of the main forces for advocating economic and social justice in China. Grass-root labour activism should be supported by research that can capture the changes in the formation of a more conscious migrant working class. It should also be supported by worker education and training that is based on the local needs and civil society exchange initiatives between workers. We believe that worker empowerment is a means to improving labour conditions in China.
