Research

Labour Action China has carried out extensive research aiming to identify the labour and social developments concerning workers’ rights in China. LAC publishes articles and research briefings on the trends and problems of the labour system in China. The reports and articles provide in-depth analysis and information on the key challenges faced by the grassroots migrant workers in defending their rights and reveal the major labour rights abuses of the foreign capital in China. The key research focuses include:

  • The working conditions of migrant workers in key industrial sectors
  • The labour related socio-economic issues such as the social insurance system, the health care provision, rural welfare system, the flow of capital investment etc.  
  • The forms of labour activism, collective actions and self-organizing of migrant workers
  • The policy-making and legislation concerning labour rights’ implementation, including the minimum wage standards, the pension system, policies on compensation, prevention and rehabilitation of work injury and occupational diseases, etc.
